December 24 – Reckless Fun

“And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1: 21 NLT).

READ: Matthew 1:18- 25

It is not unusual to hear of acts of vandalism and destruction during the yuletide season. Drunk, over excited, and overzealous youths that are anything but hungry break into a store or some private property and steal something or destroy something simply for the fun of doing it. They leave that object or property completely destroyed, injured and damaged.

That is exactly what sin does to our lives. It destroys us and leaves us anything but complete. We are disfigured, impaired and destroyed. When we go against God’s plan and purpose in our lives that is exactly what we get.

During this season let us remember why the Savior was born. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”  (Matthew 1: 21).

Christmas began with a present from God to this sinful world. The masterpiece of God’s human creation, marred by turning away from Him can be restored when we give our hearts to Him.

Prayer:

Thank You Jesus, for coming to this earth to repair our sin-damaged lives.

Quote:

Christmas Eve was a night of song that wrapped itself about you like a shawl. But it warmed more than your body. It warmed your heart… filled it, too, with melody that would last forever.”  – Bess Streeter
