“And this I pray that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment.” (Philippians 1:9 KJV).

According to Oxford Learner’s Dictionary, knowledge is the result or condition of knowing. It is clear perception. It also means learning, information, skill, and acquaintance. While discernment means to distinguish, to discriminate, to decry, to see or understand differences, to have clearness of mental sight. In addition, discernment is an act of power of discerning, judgment, and sagacity. Paul made request for the Philippians, which is very applicable to us today. The requests are; that your love may abound more and more, this will be in knowledge and in all judgment/ discernment, that you approve excellent things, that you be sincere to the end and be without offence until the day of Christ.
We all need to increase in knowledge and discernment. Our circular life shows that if you do not increase in knowledge, you will not easily progress in life. That is why we try to acquire one degree and another, or get skill and keep updating the skill. The photographer of the present time must learn the digital photography. He cannot remain with the analog knowledge he has if he must succeed. So is it spiritually. Stay close to the spirit of God and His word so that we can improve and grow more and more in spiritual knowledge and discernment. And this we must do in love because love is the ultimate. That is why Paul prayed first that you abound in love more and more in knowledge and discernment. We need to update ourselves spiritually to be in tune with God daily.

Oh Lord increase me in knowledge of You and help me abound in love in Jesus name. Amen.
