August 11 – Engage Your Spirit

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”

(I Corinthians 2:12 KJV).

READ: 2 Timothy 1:7

The moment a man becomes born again, he receives a new nature that is of God. His old nature is wiped off and replaced by a new one in Christ. This new recreated man automatically becomes alive to the things of God. There are things that have been freely given to us by God. But you might never know what these things are, until you engage your spirit. The bible says, “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” (Proverbs 20:27 KJV). God deposited all you will ever be within your spirit. All that you need to do is search them out. To search something means the thing you are looking for is already there. Just a little flood of light will help you see it.

All you have to ask is that God should light up your spirit so you can come to the full knowledge of your destiny and purpose in life. One of the ways of engaging your spirit is by praying in tongues. It helps to reveal the mysteries of God for your life. It brings the thoughts of God for you from your spirit into your mind.

Knowing all that God has destined for you to be and enjoy is something you must search out from your spirit man. Engage your spirit today in prayers. Ask God to reveal your destiny to you. If you have not received the gift of the Holy Ghost, ask God for the outpour.

Prayer:

Father I thank You for the gift of the Holy Ghost upon my life. My mind is anointed to drag out from my spirit the details of my inheritance. I locate my place in destiny, I walk in it today, and I live fulfilled, in Jesus name. Amen.

August 12 – You Are the House of God

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16 KJV).

READ: 1 Corinthians 3:9-23

In the Old Testament, the presence of God was found in the temple made by man. He dwelt within the tabernacle where the priests offered Him sacrifices of animals. Despite the fact that the children of Israel tried to please God, they just could not do that. Man in the Old Testament lived separately from God. But in the New Testament it is different. We are now the habitation of God. He decided that we should not live separately from Him. He wants to express Himself through us. We are now the temple of God. We are vessels carrying a supernatural God. The kingdom of God has decided to live in man. This is divinity-invading humanity. Wow! We are extraordinary people. We carry God Himself.

Because we carry God on our inside, we are required to live a holy life. To keep our body sanctified and pure before Him so that He can use us mightily. The Spirit of God that dwells on our inside is not for fancy. He is the ability of God to do for us what we cannot do ourselves. He is the power of God. He is an empowerment for humanity.  We are encouraged to maximize the presence of divinity in our lives today. The life of God in us can solve any problem. You can have the same quality of life as God while here on earth. He lives in you, therefore, live in that consciousness.

Prayer:

Lord I thank You for Your life within me. Thank You for the privilege to be a carrier of Your presence. Your involvement in my life will be evident in all of my dealings today in Jesus name, Amen.

August 13 – God’s Eyes Are On You

“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

(1 Peter 3:12 KJV).

READ: Psalm 91

The consolation that the eyes of God are always on the righteous gives me so much confidence. He never sleeps nor slumbers. This gives me the assurance that I can go to bed with my eyes closed. Fear should not even be the lifestyle of a righteous man because God has delight in watching His children. He does not only watch over us, He practically leans towards us to hear our prayers.

There is need for us to comport ourselves well before Him. Imagine doing something very bad in front of your father. He will remove his face in disappointment. So when we engage in sin, it makes Him remove His eyes away from us. There are consequences for that singular act of removal. Whenever His watchful eyes are away from us, we lose protection. The book of Isaiah confirms this by saying, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquity have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.”

God loves us so much that it hurts Him to remove His eyes from us. He is always willing to hear our prayers. But when we engage in sin, it soils our right standing with Him. Our righteousness is our qualification to have access to God. We must not tamper with it. That is our pass card. Keep it intact by living a life free from sin.

Prayer:

Thank You Lord for Your ears are inclined to my prayers. And I know You hear me always. Glory and honour be to Your name God, in Jesus name. Amen.

August 14 – God Resists the Proud

“Likewise ye younger people, submit yourselves unto the elders. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”

(I Peter 5:5-6 KJV).

READ: Romans 1:28-32

Pride is a very core nature of the devil. In fact it was pride in his heart that led him to rebel against God. He allowed himself to be fooled by the aura of beauty around him. He felt so special that he thought more highly of himself. This made him poison the heart of some angels and they all rebelled against God. You can see how contagious pride can be. This trait irritated God that He casted them out of the heavens.  God does not want to have anything to do with a proud man. He will literally resist that person no matter who that person is or was to Him. Remember He did not spare the devil and the other angels. They were special before Him but one thing about God is that He will never compromise standards.

For you to be able to truly submit to your elders and to other people, you must be humble. This virtue makes you serve others even when you know you are bigger than that. For the fact that you are faithful in service, God will exalt you in due time. It does not matter how long it might take. Just know that God will always exalt the humble man at the right time. Keep serving God and humanity; your time to be uplifted will soon come. God is never late. Pride goes before a fall. Humility is a virtue only great men can possess.

Prayer:

Thank You Lord for the virtue of humility. I walk in it today and always, in Jesus name. Amen.

August 15 – You Shall Not Stumble

“For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.”

(Psalm 91:11-12 NLT).

 READ: Psalm 91

The ministry of angels in the life of every believer in Christ is very real. God has designed it that we should enjoy the presence of angels around us. One of the things they are supposed to do is to protect us. Like a mobile police escort, so are the angels of God. God orders His angels to protect us every minute of the day. Wow! We are so special to God. The angels are so careful that they protect us from stumbling in life. They shield us from anything that would want to hurt us. They literally lift us up to protect us from falling. God’s protection around you is to shield you from the powers of darkness. You are so protected.

It is quite unfortunate that some of our angels are dormant. We are not even conscious of their roles in our lives as believers. So they stay there without doing anything. Instead of allowing the supernatural dimension of our lives as children of God take over, we still struggle with efforts.  Angels are meant to minister to us. They are meant to serve us.

As you wake up every day, summon all your angels and send them on errands for you. Tell them how you want your day to be and send them to work to help you achieve them. You can control situations through your angels. They are your bodyguards. They are your servants. Maximize their presence in your life today.

Confession:

Thank You for the ministry of angels in my life. I summon my angels today to bring to pass all the will of God concerning my life. I charge them to protect me today in Jesus name. Amen.

August 16 – Discipline Protects You

“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without wall.” (Proverbs 25:28 KJV).

READ: Proverbs 16:32

To have rule over oneself is to be disciplined, or to have self-control. Discipline requires the training of oneself to obey certain rules, code conducts, or principles. When a man decides to train Himself to live by the right principles in life, he fortifies himself for a life of greatness. But a man who lacks self control will allow anything into his life. The Bible likens such people as a city broken down and without walls.

The walls of a city serve as her protection against the invasion of the enemy. The wall serves as a symbol of their strength. The thicker and higher the wall, the more protected that city. Discipline serves as a wall to your life and destiny. The thicker the wall of the blocks of your discipline, the more you are protected from the evils that could break you down.

Your ability to attain your destiny in life is determined by the level of self-control you express in life. Discipline will make you wake up in the midnight to read, pray or write. Discipline pushes you closer to your dreams and visions in life. But a lack of it spells destruction. A lack of self-control has landed so many people into premarital sex, which has led to pregnancy, from pregnancy to abortion and from abortion to a destroyed irreparable womb. While in some cases, others have contracted HIV. Discipline is character, and character shapes destiny. Great men are those who are in charge of their lives. Be determined to shape your future today. Be disciplined.

Prayer:

Lord I ask for grace to be more disciplined. I subject my mind, emotions and will to the leading of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name. Amen.

August 17 – The Nature of a Lion

“The wicked flee when no one pursueth: but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” (Proverbs 28:1 KJV).

READ: Isaiah 31:4; 2 Timothy 1:7

One of the characteristics of a lion is that it is very bold. You can never see a lion intimidated or fearful. It was not the environment that shaped him to be bold. The lion was born that way. They push on in the face of any adversity. They do not cower away in the face of challenges. This trait is the trait of a victor and not a failure.

Our life as children of God is like that of the lion. God has made us kings. So we operate in authority and dominion over the earth and over the powers of darkness. Boldness is what comes with our nature. It is who we are. It will be very abnormal to live in fear and trepidation. It is very unacceptable and in conflict to our nature. The nature of righteousness has boldness as its package. Therefore, the moment you give your life to Christ, God gives you the spirit of boldness.

Fear must not be seen in the life of a believer. It is inconsistent with his nature. Fuel your spirit with the word of God. Remind yourself of who you are in Christ. This will build your faith to stay in charge. Meditate on God’s word regularly until your mind is renewed about your identity in Christ. You were designed to express dominion and authority. That is the life of a king. Boldness therefore is the character of a king. You are a king. Live it.

Confession:

I have the Spirit of Christ in me. I have the Spirit of dominion residing on my inside. Fear shall not come near me. I walk in boldness. For I am a king expressing my authority, in Jesus name. Amen.

August 18 – Knowledge Gives You Strength

“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”

(Proverbs 24: 10 NKJV)

READ: Isaiah 40:28-31

We live in a world that is characterized with so much trouble. Our everyday life is faced with adversities. The economic situation is one challenge many people face. Sometimes the trial might be personal sickness or ill health of a loved one. The situation might be overwhelming that giving up seems to be the best option. But the text for today says, if you give up in difficult times, it means that your strength is small. The secret therefore in not giving up lies on the level of strength you have within.

What then is the source of strength? It is called knowledge. It keeps you strong and resilient in the most difficult situations. Proverbs 24:5 (NKJV) says, “A wise man is strong, yes a man of knowledge increases strength.” The secret of strength in the face of trials depends on what you know. This is what keeps you from quitting no matter the challenge you face. No matter the challenge, adequate knowledge of God’s word is all you need to overcome. Find out what God is saying about the situation. Hold on to that word, meditate and confess daily on it as you keep working towards victory. Let it be your strength through difficult times. You will surely come out a winner. Guard your heart with the knowledge of God’s word. It will keep you strong no matter what. People will wonder why you are able to scale through situations. For “….the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” (Daniel 11:32b). Go and excel today. Failure is never an option.

Quote:

“The adversity that causes some to break down is the same adversity that causes others to break record.” – Andrew Balon.

Prayer:

Father I thank You for helping me discover the secret of strength.

Help me Lord to live Your word today, so that I can overcome adversities in Jesus name. Amen.

August 19 – Transformed Into Your Vision

“But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV).

READ: 2 Corinthians 4:18

Vision is an image of the future. It is a reflection of what tomorrow ought to be. Vision is revelation knowledge deposited into your spirit by the Spirit of God. Vision is the word of God spoken to you concerning your future.

One of the ways of becoming your vision is to be focused on that which you have seen. Set your mind, heart, energy and resources on the image you have about tomorrow. Never lose sight of that. As you keep your eyes on the reflection of the image of God’s word to you, the more you are gradually transformed into that image. You will become changed into that very dream you have about yourself. You must never lose focus of your dreams. You must invest your time to see it come to reality.

As you go about fulfilling your dreams today, do not be distracted by the present circumstances. You are not your condition. Set your eyes on your dreams. This is what produces the future you desire. Have that understanding that your present condition is temporal. Your future is the real deal. And because your future is God’s word to you, He will never let His word fall to the ground. Go out with the mentality of a victor. This is because a victor is who you are.

 Prayer:

Lord I thank You for Your desire to see me transformed into your very own image. As I step out to become this vision, I ask for direction, wisdom and favour in Jesus name. Amen.

August 20 – Watch Your Association

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.” (Psalms 1:1 NKJV).

READ: Psalm 1:1-6

The kind of people we associate with determines our attitude to life. Our attitude consequently determines our altitudes in life. We are all a product of the people we associate with. The people we spend most of our times with, have a subtle way of shaping our lives. The more we listen to them, the more deposits they make in our lives. This influences the way we think, talk and act. There are people who are not supposed to speak into your life.  Those who do not value the things of God must not be in the list of associates who shape your life. Such kinds of people will always talk you out of God’s plan for your life. You need someone who will always encourage you to do what is right. A true friend who will always celebrate you, encourage you and never magnify your weaknesses. You need someone who will always spur you to greatness.

The wrong associations will dampen you. They will always limit you. However, the right association activates the blessing of God upon your life. You can only flourish in a favorable environment that encourages growth. The wrong associations will breed sorrow and stagnation.

Who are your friends, mentors, role models, teachers or pastor? Do they speak the right things into your life? What kind of books, magazines or tapes do you listen to? Are they destiny-building materials? These things determine a man’s future. Feed from the right sources.

Prayer:

Father help me to discern the right people, and to make the right decision in choosing friends today, in Jesus name amen.
